Real Stories. Real Transformation.
Every participant’s journey is different — yet the result is the same: deeper clarity, compassion, and confidence in practice.
Becoming 101 was as insightful as it was enjoyable. The experience has been both personally and professionally transformative, teaching me so much about myself, my purpose, and the impact of my work through a new lens. I’ve always seen myself as a servant leader; however, through this course I reached a deeper understanding of what that truly means.
The Becoming Method™ and trauma recovery training process is phenomenally comprehensive and makes clear the mind–body connection. Identifying specific moments of trauma and releasing their energy was beyond powerful. The healing has brought a steady, peaceful presence — I now catch and release upsets faster, move slower, and allow life to surprise me rather than planning my own “surprise party.”
In 2022, I learned about the Becoming Method and felt a deep calling to pursue it. Since beginning my training, my life has undergone a profound transformation. After the retreat, I discovered a new version of myself, shifted my identity, and found clarity in my purpose. The techniques were powerful, clear, and simple to apply. I uncovered boundless compassion and love for all living beings, realigning myself with the divine plan.

“Before this program, I was on the verge of leaving nursing. I felt like I was constantly giving from an empty cup—exhausted, disconnected, and questioning whether I could keep going. The RN–Psychotherapist training gave me a new path forward. I found tools to heal myself while learning how to support others in a much deeper way. I finally feel aligned with why I became a nurse in the first place.”

The Becoming Method®
🌱 About Your Instructor
Welcome, I’m Dr. Joan.
I’m naming a truth that’s lived in the margins of nursing for decades. We’ve been doing the work—with no name, no title, no roadmap. The quiet presence. The emotional holding. The healing conversations. That’s psychotherapy.
Over the past 8 years, I developed The Becoming Method® to help nurses step into what we’ve always done—bring healing where it’s needed most. Now more than ever, the world needs our presence, our wisdom, and our care.
More About MeWhy This Course Costs Nothing, —
and Means Everything
We created Becoming 101 because something bigger is unfolding in Canada.
It’s called The Becoming Project—a national initiative designed to build the capacity of equity-deserving communities to deliver high-quality trauma recovery care. We are preparing nurses to lead this work across Canada—supporting individuals, families, and entire communities to move through individual and collective healing journeys that address trauma at every level of the system.

Common Questions
Quick answers so you can move forward with confidence.
No. Becoming 101 is delivered fully online through Brightspace™, so you can join from anywhere. Content is self-paced with pre-recorded lectures, readings, and guided assignments.
No problem—there are no required live sessions. Move through short videos, pre-recorded lectures, readings, and reflections when it works for you.
Becoming 101 is your on-ramp. It builds the foundations you’ll need for the pathway:
- Module 1 — Understanding Trauma & Holistic Responses: mind–body connections, memory, self-healing practices for RNs.
- Module 2 — Exploring Trauma-Informed Modalities: compare NET, Somatic Embodiment Therapy, IFS, and the Becoming Method®.
- Module 3 — Ethics, Regulation & Professional Identity: scope, consent, documentation, boundaries, SEUS.
After 101 you’ll see clear next steps (102/103 intensive, 301–304 core, supervised practice). 101 itself does not authorize practice; it helps you decide and prepare.
Yes. You’ll receive a Certificate of Completion upon finishing the course requirements.
No. Becoming 101 welcomes RNs, NPs, CNSs, PHNs, students, internationally educated nurses, and allied helpers exploring psychotherapy and trauma-informed care.
Our courses are aligned with the regulatory standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)—including scope of practice, informed consent, documentation, boundaries, and Safe & Effective Use of Self (SEUS). Alignment does not imply formal recognition, approval, or endorsement by CNO/CRPO.
We are currently seeking accreditation from the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) for the 6-Month RN–Psychotherapist Credentialing Program. The CNA is the national professional body for registered nurses in Canada. Its Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation is a respected national standard for quality, ethics, and competency in nursing education across provinces and territories.
As part of this CNA accreditation process, Becoming 101 (formerly 401) and related foundational courses will also be recognized for their quality and alignment with CNA CPD standards.
Timeline: We anticipate that formal CNA accreditation will be in place before the first graduating class of the 6-Month RN–Psychotherapist Credentialing Program.
Yes. Becoming 101 offers 3.0 CCE credits and a completion certificate. Acceptance for PD/CPD is at your employer’s or regulator’s discretion.
In Ontario, delivering psychotherapy within nursing requires meeting CNO standards and practicing within scope, including SEUS, supervision, documentation, consent, and boundaries. Independent psychotherapy may also involve CRPO registration. Becoming 101 is educational—not a license. We outline next steps and supervision pathways.
Plan for ~6–8 hours per module including readings, videos, pre-recorded lectures, and assignments. Most learners complete the course over 2–3 weeks.
